Hi Folks. All is well in Texas. We've had a few very nice days. Nice enough that we got in the Gulf. 75 to 80. Then Monday night into tuesday I thought we may end up in Kansas, again. A normal day around here is 8 to 12 mph winds. A calm day is 4 to 6 mph. Anything less than that and the mosquitoes will carry you away. (How do you spell mosquitoes ?) Oh well. We have been fishing, not much luck or skill. We have found lots of shells. We volunteer with the State Park - we help clean the beach. Hey its fun and we are doing our part. We ran a 10K race saturday a.m. (after a night of mexican and beer). Would you believe that we both won our age group. On our run this morning we found a dolphin, dead on the beach. It must have been 6 to 7 ft long. It had been dead for quite a while.
This afternoon, it was a cool 56. So we went exploring. We ended up at Goose Island Texas State Park. 60 miles north of Mustang. The place is beautiful, but we still like this place better. Goose Island is prettier, but we love the peace and solitude of this place. We saw a lot a beautiful scenery. The oldest oak tree lives there. Its 35 feet in circ, the crown is 90 feet and its age is over 1000 years. Its also the home of Whooping Cranes - we have not seen them yet. But we will. At the boat dock people clean their fish and the pelicans stand for a free meal. Sometimes they attempt to steal a whole fish. They are funny to watch. They fly around in V formations just like our geese. I will close for now and attach a few new pictures. Enjoy.....Love Tom and Karen

Hi Gang...It be me again. Where do I start. Sunday was absolutely beautiful. The Laguna Madre Bay was as smooth as glass. Red fish were tailing everywhere. Do you think we caught any? Not a one. Not even a bite. At one point I beached my kayak and walked back to the truck to get suntan lotion. It was in the kayak :). Anyway, I found 4 conch shells during my walk. We stopped fishing after a while and redirected our energy to finding shells. 33 conch shells later we called it a day.
We've been running a good bit. Biking and kayaking and fishing. Still not doing well in the fish department. We ate the last of our fresh fish for dinner. Our first Sea Trout - it was baked and boy was it good.
The weather is good. Most days are mid sixties to low seventies. Very pleasant

Hi Folks...Only a few things have changed since our last post. We've been running on the beach. Fishing - I can't buy a bite Karen did manage to catch a nice Red Fish....But not legal. After a nice meal thursday evening I had a tooth with a crown fail. Yep it broke off at the gum. Friday was spent in a dental office. Thank goodness the tooth can be saved. So I am now waiting for a new crown. We've been looking for shells. We also placed "Pete" The Pelican outside for all to enjoy. People almost break their necks staring at it. I will post some pictures, once I get them down loaded. We ran ten miles this mornin, saturday. It wasn't pretty. We did some laundry and stopped a roadside seafood place and bought some oysters and grouper. The oysters were great, so was the grouper. The weathers been pleasant - mid sixties to upper seventies. If we could only slow down the wind. It never stops. Take care for now.

Lets see, this morning we took a Texas Coast Bird Class. It was very interesting, CRS. I did enjoy it though. I went for a 4.5 mile run afterwards. We cleaned shells, had lunch, then went for a ride. We managed to fish a while this evening. I can't seem to buy a bite. But Karen did
catch a small Red fish, 17 inches. They need to be 20 inches

Well today is tuesday. Its over cast, but still 67 degrees. We spent several hours on the beach this morning looking for shells. We found a lot. I also found a "sun yourself" chair, hot pink plastic. We'll go fishing this afternoon. I think we'll have Red fish for dinner.

HI FOLKS,
Karen and I (mostly Karen) are creating a Blog. Oh the things we are learning. The Blog will enable everyone to keep in touch with us without all of the emails. We can post what we are doing and where we are along with pictures.
Wish us well.
